  • implants are always palpable; in very slender women, they may be visible in certain body positions.
9

Surgical complications (may occur)

  1. Early (rare): hematoma (accumulation of blood in the wound requiring surgical evacuation), infection (requires removal of implants and antibiotic administration), hypertrophic scar, breast asymmetry always occurs before the procedure (it may decrease after the procedure but may also worsen).
  2. B. Late (relatively common – minimum 30% within 10 years): implant rupture (requires another operation to remove or remove and insert new implants), capsule contracture around implants (the breast is harder than the implant, may change shape, may cause discomfort), fluid accumulation around the implant (may require another procedure), implant visibility, breast lymphoma (type of cancer) associated with implants risk 1 in 5 thousand operations – only with textured (rough) implants, dissatisfaction with breast shape or size of inserted implants, non-specific pain in the breast area.
