Thighplasty

THIGH PLASTY

General information

1

I do not perform thigh lift, so-called „with a short scar line”

The scar runs from the groin, along the medial surface of the thigh to the knee area

2

Anesthesia

general (anesthesia).

3

Duration

4 h.

4

Stay in clinic

1 day

5

Recovery period

  • Return to mental work and driving after about 1 week (home office).
  • Engaging in sports after about 1 month (cycling);
  • Return to physical work after about 1 month;
  • Wearing a special compression garment for 1 month non-stop.
6

Follow-up examinations

  • The day after the procedure: local condition check, drain removal (if inserted);
  • After 1 week (local condition check, partial suture removal);
  • After 14 days (local condition check, removal of remaining skin sutures);
  • after 12 months (final assessment of the operation result);
  • Follow-up examination at any time, if needed.
7

Medication after the procedure

  • Over-the-counter painkillers;
  • Scar care – see FAQ
8

Inevitable consequences of surgery (temporary and permanent):

  • swelling,
  • bruising,
  • scar,
  • sensory disturbances in the scar area,
  • after several months/years partial recurrence of laxity (sometimes requires another procedure)
9

Complications at the surgical site (may occur)

  • hypertrophic scar (rarely),
  • keloid (rarely),
  • hematoma (accumulation of blood in the wound requiring surgical evacuation of blood – rarely);
  • seroma (accumulation of serous fluid in the wound requiring evacuation by puncture – quite often);
  • infection (requires antibiotic administration; rarely);
  • prolonged wound healing (sometimes requiring further procedures to heal the wounds – extremely rare);
  • necrosis of the skin-fat flap (sometimes requires another procedure; extremely rare, but a long treatment period);
  • asymmetry always occurs before the procedure (after the procedure it may decrease but may also worsen);
  • dissatisfaction with the aesthetic result of the procedure (subjective feeling);
  • thigh lift usually does not yield spectacular surgical results in longer observations (it's good right after, then tissues loosen over time).
